What is a commissioned artwork?
If you love my style but don't see anything that is just right for you, you can order a commission piece, custom made for your space. I genuinely enjoy this process and love working with collectors to discuss colors, size, and the right design for your piece. If you need a non-standard sized painting such as a 32"x52", I can create one for you. Or if you like a specific painting of mine, but it's the wrong size for your wall space, I can create a similar one in the size you need, or in the colors you need. I will also work with your designer, architect, or art consultant.
I never create anything that I wouldn’t hang in my own home - - I have to love it first! I don’t do replicas of past works - your painting will be similar to, but not exactly the same as, the inspiration piece. I want my collectors to have the “one and only”.
Feel free to contact me to chat about a custom piece. I also welcome studio visits by FaceTime: catteslaart@gmail.com or 770.715.3573
[At this time I am not accepting commissions for work under 24”x24”– unless they consist of multiple components. If you would like to commission a diptych or triptych incorporating several smaller components, please inquire.]
How do I start the process?
Once you contact me, we discuss what you're looking for. You are free to provide wall color or other textile color samples (fabric, carpet, etc.) to me if you would like me to match them in your room. If you’re looking for non-standard sized artwork, I add the cost of getting the custom sized canvas or birch support made to the total commission price. I then write up a one-page document called a “Commission Agreement” that we both sign, that includes what we discussed, the price, and when the painting will be finished as well as how it will be delivered/shipped to you. I ask for a 50% deposit to begin the work, with the final balance due at completion.
Once the painting is completed, I email you an image for approval. If you have also sent me an image of your room, I will use the Adobe® Photoshop® Design Software to 'paste' the new painting onto your wall for a preview of what it will look like. I allow up to two color changes to the final painting. After you give me your thumbs-up, I varnish, wire, and arrange for delivery or shipment, then email you an invoice for the balance due. Commissions are a great way to have the perfect painting for your home or office, created just for you!
